Overview
iCar ITS is an autonomous, environmentally friendly public transport initiative operating on the ITS campus. The mobile app serves as a core platform for users to interact with the service. However, the app required major improvements in usability and interface clarity. Through structured UCD-driven research and iterative design, the app was redesigned to be more intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly.
The goal
Apply the User-Centered Design method to align the interface with real user needs.

The challenge
Understanding user pain points in an innovative but unfamiliar autonomous service.
Maintaining user satisfaction through multiple design changes.
Achieving a balance between technical accuracy and ease-of-use for daily campus commuters.
Approach & Process
3 Iterative Design Phases, including formative and summative usability tests, and heuristic evaluations.
Employed quantitative usability metrics such as the System Usability Scale (SUS) to validate each iteration.
Actively involved users in each cycle to validate assumptions and collect meaningful feedback.
The result

Iteration 1: 83
Iteration 2: 77.5 (after design modifications)
Iteration 3: 88.75 (after resolving issues and optimizing flows)
The final design received positive validation from users and demonstrates how UCD can drive measurable improvement in public transportation apps.
This project contributes to the advancement of autonomous mobility UX and supports the broader adoption of smart campus solutions.
